Prof Asma gets award

Prof Asma received the award at the Ninth Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning in Edinburgh, Scotland.

UNIVERSITI Sains Malaysia (USM) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Asma Ismail has received the Honorary Fellowship from the Commonwealth of Learning (COL).

COL president and chief executive officer Prof Asha S Kanwar, said in a letter, that the award conferred to Prof Asma is in recognition of her outstanding contribution in the advancement of education in Malaysia, when she served as the director-general in the Education Ministry and subsequently as USM vice-chancellor.It was also mentioned that Prof Asma’s contribution to promoting access to quality higher education, especially for women, has been a great inspiration to many around the Commonwealth.
