THE Education Ministry hopes to work more closely with the United Kingdom.
This is in terms of providing English language training for its teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) .
The ministry, in a statement, said Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik brought this up when receiving a courtesy call from British High Commissioner to Malaysia Vicki Treadell.
“The visit was to, among others, discuss bilateral relations between Malaysia and the UK in the field of education,” said the statement.
At present, it is estimated that there are 18,000 Malaysians studying in the UK including those pursuing their Masters and PhDs.
Dr Maszlee said the ministry is working to strengthen the smart partnership between the two countries.
