Council celebrating with alumni

KNOWSLEY Council assistant chief executive Mark Butterworth explains the role of the Archive Resource for Knowsley (ARK) and the significance of the project.

“Knowsley Council, with the support of the Heritage Lottery Funding, has developed an ARK project that has really opened up Knowsley archives to more people.

“ARK has included a variety of heritage themes and involved a wide range of people and has been fantastic so far.

“As part of this, we are delighted to be working on a heritage project with the Malayan Teacher Training College (MTTC) alumni,” he said.

Butterworth said their college was in Kirkby, Knowsley from 1952 to 1962.

Over the years, he added that the alumni from the college have been to Kirkby to see the Knowsley archives collection and have contributed new and exciting items to it.

“It is an honour for us to include the MTTC alumni in this larger ARK Project.

“It will be great to meet the alumni and celebrate their special history with Kirkby and Knowsley,” he added.
