UNIVERSITI Sains Malaysia will be offering two new master degree programmes in environmental engineering and structural engineering for the coming academic session.
Both programmes will be offered by mixed mode which requires a student to complete five courses and submit a dissertation for examination.
In the environmental engineering programme, the four core subjects are water treatment, wastewater treatment, environmental impact assessment (ElA), and solid and hazardous waste management.
In the structural engineering programme, the core subjects are stability of structures, advanced structural mechanics, structural retrofitting technology and principles of structural design.
School of Civil Engineering dean Assoc Prof Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim said that the two programmes will be taught in English and open to full time students only.
The minimum duration of the programme is one year. Students can also opt to complete their graduate programme by research mode in environmental engineering, structural engineering, geo-technical engineering, water resources, highway and transportation engineering as well as geomatic engineering and management.
Meanwhile, USM’s Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia (CITM) is also offering a master degree in instructional multimedia (MIM) which will give students a solid grounding in new, emerging information and communicational technology tools.
The MIM curriculum provides students with broad-based knowledge and expertise in areas like instructional design and delivery, visual communications, human-computer interaction, multimedia authoring, web-based programming, web-based management, project management, 2D and 3D graphics animation as well as audio and video production.
This programme is offered through the coursework mode on a full or part time basis. Applications are now open for the June intake.
