I NEVER dreamt that I would one day be made to feel like a foreigner in my own country but that is exactly how I felt when my out-of-state transfer was approved. Perhaps I had been in a comfort zone too long, peering at the whole education set-up through rose-tinted glasses.
Perhaps I had been naive, over-idealistic or misplaced in my faith in humanity. Perhaps I had been too gullible, believing that the welfare of all schoolteachers was truly a primary concern of the top-level administrators – without prejudice, favouritism or strings attached.
