Private education awards

THE much anticipated award ceremony for outstanding private institutions of higher learning will take place in September this year.

Private Education Department (JPS) director Alimuddin Mohd Dom said private universities and colleges would be invited to contest the numerous categories once the department finalised details such as the number of categories and nature of awards later this month.

“This year’s award ceremony is going to be different as it will focus only on institutions of higher learning as we are under the Higher Education Ministry,” he said, adding that this year’s award ceremony would be “bigger and more Oscar-like”.

A panel comprising ministry officials and academics would be asked to pick the winners, he said.

At the inaugural Private Education Night last year, Multimedia University and Inti College Malaysia emerged as the big winners, bagging four awards each.
