IT WAS indeed disheartening to read the predicament faced by Fed-Up of Penang (“Still waiting for pension”, StarEducation, May 25).
The Public Services Department (PSD) apologises for the inconvenience and wishes to thank the complainant for bringing the matter up.
However, due to lack of information – such as the full name, IC number and Pension Division reference number – we are unable to act on the complaint.
The PSD wishes to emphasise the need for complete documentation in order for payment of retirement benefits to be processed.
Time and again, complaints from pensioners have been received on late payment, when in fact incomplete documentation has been the cause.
While the PSD may be responsible for payment, it is requires documentation from other relevant departments as well as the pensioner in order to discharge its payment responsibility expeditiously.
