Making much more from tuition

JENNIFER Liew makes pots of money based on her reputation as a Mathematics teacher. A secondary school teacher, she has managed to finance both her children's higher education studies in Australia as well as renovate her house twice in the last seven years through her income from giving tuition.

In the 12 years she has been giving tuition – solely for Mathematics – Liew's supplementary monthly income has increased from the initial RM6,000 to a whopping RM18,000 she now rakes in. What started off as supplementary income has certainly far outstripped her taxable revenue of RM2,800 as a teacher in the DG2 scale.
