MY friend Ooi B.S. and I – a postgraduate and a postdoctoral student – were overwhelmed by your cover story on fake PhDs (Star Education, Jan 26) which raised many points for us to ponder.
The existence of such PhDs surely makes people doubt the credibility of doctorate holders and postdoctoral students.
While most things can be bought with money, can we buy knowledge, endurance and sincerity?
A doctorate for RM35,000? Oh, how humiliating and sickening!
There are people who slog day and night over their research findings, like my friend and I.
Both of us strongly agree with Datuk Teo Chiang Liang (Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities secretary-general) that the relevant authorities should do all it takes to stamp out the selling of PhDs or any other type of degree.
