THE question is whether Afghanistan can set up a modern education system that can act as a bulwark against fundamentalism and prevent the country from slipping into an economic black hole.
The answer was played out in Paris recently, where a new High Commission on Education was established under the auspices of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
