JOHOR BARU: Youths have been advised to be equipped with relevant skills to secure good jobs, especially since the working world has become increasingly challenging.
State Human Resources and Unity committee chairman R. Vidyanathan said that youths should step up their efforts in order to compete for jobs that were being offered here.
“Johor has plenty of job opportunities in various sectors, especially in Pengerang and the Iskandar Malaysia region.
“The sky is the limit but youths should not be too picky when it comes to acquiring a job,” he told reporters after the launch of the Johor Azam Kerja Night Career Fair on Friday.
He also advised youths to refrain from job-hopping and instead concentrate on gaining experience to climb up their respective career ladders.
Vidyanathan also said that over 3,000 job opportunities had been offered by some 50 companies throughout the two-day carnival at Pandan City, which was held over the weekend.
“More well known companies joined the fair this year such as UM Land Bhd, Glenmarie Properties Sdn Bhd as well as Dyson Manufacturing Sdn Bhd,” he said, adding that he expected 20,000 job-seekers to attend the fair and apply for jobs.
He pointed out that the jobs available at the fair had salaries ranging from RM900 to RM11,000, depending on the type of job.
Vidyanathan also stressed that some 2,668 individuals have successfully attained jobs through this fair in the past two years.
