POLICE are monitoring the activities of eight secret societies and their 8,000 odd members in Penang, said state police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Abdul Rahim Hanafi.
He said the underworld gangs under close scrutiny were gang 04 (under Wah Kee), Sio Sam Ong, gang 24, Phneah and Ang Kim Leng (all under Ang Bin Hooi), Malay gang 77, and gang 04 and gang 08 of the Indian thugs.
