SABAH Customs Department has recorded 480 cigarette smuggling cases with seizure of RM1.3mil and unpaid tax of RM5.5mil between January and June this year, an increase of 296 cases or 62.16% compared to the same period last year.
Its director, Datuk Dr Janathan Kandok, said the cases made up 62.41% of the overall smuggling cases recorded in the state during the period.
