THE story of Ban Lee Heong dried meat and meat floss is one of sheer grit and determination.

Orphaned at a young age with no formal education, its founder Tan He Chuang, 58, had crossed the seas to earn a living as a kitchen helper in the Netherlands, where he learned to make dried meat before returning home to ply the trade.
