Rumah Ngalang folk succeed in bringing land dispute case to Native Court

SIBU: Residents of Rumah Ngalang, a longhouse in Dudong near here, have succeeded in referring a land dispute case from the High Court to the Native Court for further mediation.

The defendants led by headman Tuai Rumah Raman Kudi had through their defence counsel Yap Hoi Liong at the hearing of the case yesterday contented that the High Court had no jurisdiction to determine the dispute as it fell under the Adat Iban.
