SCIENCE of Life Studies 24/7 (SOLS) Malaysia is jumping on the bandwagon to help with Tesco’s newly-launched Food Collection Programme this Ramadan.
The non-governmental organisation aims to lend a hand to underprivileged rural and urban communities throughout Malaysia.
With more than 40 centres nationwide, SOLS is stationing volunteers in Tesco stores closest to the centres, said deputy administration and operations director Tim Spijker.
“This food collection programme is in line with our mission and we hope that through our collective team effort, we will be able to collect loads of food for local charities.
“Through our nationwide network, we have the infrastructure and resources to take on large-scale projects like this.
“Our team is a mix of local and international volunteers, and they are all very excited to assist local charities with the food collection,” said Spijker.
SOLS began assisting in the collections from June 28 to 29 and from July 3 to 6, and will continue to do so again from July 10 to 13 at various locations.
To join in the efforts, visitors can donate non-perishable food items at a drop-off box in Tesco stores around Malaysia, or donate at the cash register.
