OUT of over 5,600 premises in the George Town heritage enclave, only 389 still hold practitioners and masters of traditional crafts.
The myriad craftsmen include wooden signboard carvers, anchor makers, natural pigment makers, joss paper makers, rattan weavers, Nyonya shoemakers and even coffee roasters.
