THE Eco X series adventure race is back after a four year hiatus.
Organised by Nomad Adventure, Eco X-Cape will feature the Adventure Run on May 31 and the Mountain Bike Mission on June 1 at Gua Tempurung in Gopeng.
The Adventure Run is a trail run with an adventurous theme while the Mountain Bike Mission is a cross-country mountain bike race with a variety of terrain and trails.
An expanded number of individual categories will be featured in the race, with four levels of difficulty, including X-Treme, X-Press, X-Cite and Mini-X (for children aged 12 and below).
The X-Treme also has a team category, in which a minimum of four members are required.
Race director Chan Yuen-Li said there would be a number of man-made and natural obstacles from the start until the finish line to make the race more adventurous than its previous installment.
According to Chan, more Malaysians and athletes in the region are taking up adventure racing.
“A race like Eco X-Cape is perfect for escaping from city life, whether you are racing to win or just for personal experience.
“We are confident that the Nomad Adventure race series will continue to attract the best athletes in the country,” said Chan, a four-time winner of the Eco Challenge.
Racers can choose to take part in one or both races.
Race fees are from RM80 and vary depending on each category, while Mini-X’s entry is free.
Prizes worth more than RM30,000 are up for grabs in the two competitive categories, which are X-Treme and X-Press.
