Astro Malaysia visits The Star for Chinese New Year

CHINESE New Year celebrations came early this year at Menara Star with a visit from Astro Malay sia.

With the theme “Ma Li Quan Kai”, which means unleashing the power of the horse, Astro Malaysia entertained employees of Star Publications (M) Bhd with performances by the Astro Battleground 2013 champions, Kickerz and a lion dance performance that introduced two very pink lions.

Present was Astro Malaysia chief operating officer Henry Tan, Chinese customer business vice-president Choo Chi Han, communications vice-president Tammy Toh and news content group vice-president Vincent De Paul.

Astro Malaysia brought along their stars such as the winners of the Astro Star Quest talent and winners of Astro Chinese International Pageant to spread the festive cheer.

Also present were Star Publications (M) Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, group chief editor June H.L Wong, digital business chief operating officer Roy Tan as well as Star Radio Group chief executive officer Calvin Kan.

The event also introduced the director and lead actor and actress of Astro Malaysia’s new movie entitled The Journey.

The Journey, presented by Astro Shaw and produced by Woohoo Pictures, is a cross-continental story that explores the idea of culture, not just as tradition but as an expression of love.

The film won most voted foreign film (audience choice) at the Taoyuan Film Festival in Taiwan.

It will premiere in cinemas on Jan 30.

The media visit ended with the highly anticipated distribution of plush toys.

As this year marks the Year of the Horse, horse plush toys were distributed to the staff along with ang pow packets.
