KUCHING: The year-end race between shopping malls in the state capital that sees them splurging on aggressive sale promotions, is only about increased competition but also the closeness of Christmas and Chinese New Year celebrations.
Retailers and mall operators say with the next Chinese New Year falling on Jan 31 — just little over a month after Christmas — the two traditionally peak shopping seasons will be crammed into one extended period.
