THE Landslide Early Warning System, currently developed by the Slope Engineering Division of Public Works Department (JKR), needs five years, or less, to be ready.
The system, based on the model adopted by landslide-prone Hong Kong, will be able to send out alerts two hours before a landslide occurs. The system is being developed since about three years ago, and was first reported in the media in February this year.
