KUCHING: The UCSI University pledges RM35mil worth of bursaries and financial assistance to aid youths in continuing their tertiary education.

Its Sarawak campus, known as the leader in tourism and hospitality studies in the region, has taken a more holistic approach to help needy students wishing to pursue tertiary education, by providing different types of financial assistance.

It has introduced three schemes for SPM students with trial examination results, namely the UCSI University Trust Principal Scholarship Award, UCSI University Trust A-Level Scholarship and UCSI University Trust Pre-U Scholarship. SPM students with five As and above in their trials are eligible to apply for the UCSI University Trust A-Level Scholarship and UCSI University Trust Pre-U Scholarship.

“The campus has successfully gained international cooperative education partners and many students have fulfilled their dreams of studying locally and interning overseas. Students can also choose to study at Zealand Institute of Business and Technology (ZIBAT), formerly known as CELF — The Academy, in Denmark for an authentic European experience through the exchange programme.

“Apart from that, all SPM students would be given a chance to enjoy up to 20% tuition fee waiver, under the Education Assist Scheme for diploma programmes including Diploma in Hotel Management, Diploma in Culinary Arts and Diploma in Leisure and Recreation Management, with minimum entry requirement of five credits on their SPM result. The scheme, however, would be limited to first 20 applicants,” UCSI University said in a statement yesterday, adding that it also offered the Tan Sri Ahmad Razali Merit Scholarship Award, UCSI University Trust Scholarship and UCSI University Trust Sports Bursary for qualified students.

The enrolment for next year’s January intake is in progress and the university accepts trial examination results. For more information, call 082-455 255.
