MERCHANDISE flew off the shelves as fans of Harley-Davidson turned up in full force for the opening of the brand’s new lifestyle boutique in Gurney Plaza, Penang.
The assortment of products, from biker wear to casual apparel and souvenirs, was also a hit with participants of an 80-strong bike convoy who made a stopover at the mall for the occasion.
Naza Group of Companies senior vice-president of corporate strate-gic investment Datuk Maruan Mohd Said said Penangites could now immerse themselves in the brand’s ‘premium lifestyle’.
“Whether you are a Harley owner or not, a true biker at heart or just an admirer of the brand, you are welcome to embrace this world via its unique fashion and lifestyle accessories,” he added.
The Naza Group, under its Naza Prestige Bikes Sdn Bhd subsidiary, is the sole authorised importer and dealer of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, apparel and accessories in Malaysia.
The company had invested about RM1mil in the new 1,600sq ft boutique, located at the mall’s ground floor Jalan Kelawei entrance.
Maruan said it would complement the original Harley-Davidson Lifestyle Gallery in Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, and its 3S Showrooms in Juru Auto-City and Petaling Jaya.
Naza’s Two Wheel Division vice-president Nik Danial Nik Mahmood pointed out that many customers at its KLCC outlet had ventured all the way from the northern region, thus the new store would put them closer to its fanbase here.
Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau chief executive officer Zulkefli Sharif, who was the guest of honour at the recent launch, said having the brand here would enhance the island’s allure for tourists, especially with Visit Malaysia Year 2014 on the horizon.
After the formalities, a flash mob of dancers guided guests to the new store, where the dignitaries launched the boutique by lighting up a ‘now open’ sign at the entrance.
In celebration of the opening, the outlet is offering a promotional discount of 20% off all items – which comprise a broad range of clothing for men, women and children, accessories such as eyewear, belts, bags, jewellery, fragrances and collectables including pins and mugs.
After their Penang stopover, the convoy, comprising Harley owners from seven countries, continued on the next leg of their 2,000km trip across the world, organised as part of the 110th anniversary celebrations of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company.
