Masing and Uggah now Datuk Amar

KUCHING: Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing was conferred the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA) award by Head of State Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin during an investiture ceremony at the State Legislative Assembly Complex here.

The other recipient of the award, which carries the title Datuk Amar, was Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah.

They were among 39 recipients on the honours list who received their awards in person yesterday. The ceremony was held in conjunction with Salahuddin’s 92nd birthday.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology founder Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing received the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Dato Sri.

Meanwhile, Assistant Industrial Development Minister Julaihi Na-rawi, Assistant Youth Development Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Assistant Public Health Minister Dr Jerip Susil were conferred the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK), which carries the title Datuk.

Other recipients of the PBGK were Implementation Coordination Unit director-general Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh, National Aerospace Agency president Tan Sri Ahmad Johan, First Division Infantry commander Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar, Sarawak Energy Bhd chief executive Torstein Dale Sjotveit (honorary), former Deputy Works Minister Datuk Yong Khoon Seng, Ismail Hashim and Henry Tee.

Salahuddin also conferred the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title Datu, to state Mufti Kipli Yassin, state deputy commissioner of police Datuk Law Hong Soon, Laura Lee of the State Financial Office, Education director Abdillah Adam, Land and Survey director Sajeli Kipli and Sarawak Foundation director Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

In addition, 19 people were awarded the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title Dato.

They are Senator Dayang Madinah Tun Abang Openg, Henry Opang Luhat, Chai Soong Phian, Grunsin Ayom, Abdul Latip Abu Seman and the Head of State’s senior private secretary Khir Busrah, Datin Hanifah Hajar Taib-Alsree, Rorete @ Clarence Rorote Sagon, Baharuddin Abdullah, Andrew Wong Kee Yew, Winsel Ahtos, Ngeng Eng Cheng, Hii King Chiong, Steve Ng Thian Yew, Wong Sing Nang, Mohamad Atei Abang Medaan, Pengiran Zain Pengiran Salleh, William Tang Tieng Kee and Idris Sardi (honorary).
