KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin heads the list of 979 recipients to be conferred state awards in conjunction with Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Muhammad Salahuddin’s 92nd birthday today.
He is the sole recipient of the Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang award, which carries the title Datuk Patinggi.
Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing and Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas will receive the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang, which carries the title Datuk Amar.
The Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Dato Sri, will be conferred on Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa and limkokwing University of Creative Technology founder Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.
Kazuhisa Kogo, the president of Tokuyama Corporation Japan, is awarded an honorary PNBS.
Former Deputy Works Minister Datuk Yong Khoon Seng is among nine recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK), which carries the title Datuk.
The others are businessmen Tan Sri Ahmad Johan and Datuk Henry Tee, Implementation Coordination Unit director-general Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh, assistant ministers Julaihi Narawi, Dr Jerip Susil and Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, First Division Infantry commander Lt Jen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar and Datuk Ismail Hashim.
An honorary PGBK will also be awarded to Sarawak Energy Bhd chief executive Torstein Dale Sjotveit.
Meanwhile, recipients of the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DBJS) are state Mufti Kipli Yassin, Sarawak Foundation director Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Land and Survey director Sajeli Kipli, deputy state financial secretary Laura Lee Ngien Hion, state deputy commissioner of police SAC Datuk Law Hong Soon and state education director Abdillah Adam.
The award carries the title Datu.
Among the 18 recipients of the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title Dato, are Cats FM executive director Datin Hanifah Taib-Alsree, Senator Dayang Madinah Tun Abang Openg, former Kuching North mayor Abang Mohamad Atei Abang Medaan, Sarawak Skills Development Centre executive director Baharuddin Abdullah and Malaysian Pepper Board director-general Grunsin Ayom.
Also receiving an honorary PSBS is Indonesian violin maestro Idris Sardi.
