KUCHING: Aspiring candidate for Mas Gading, Mordi Bimol, from DAP, has been rushed to the hospital in Bau after experiencing some difficulty in breathing and chest pain.

A relative of the 28-year-old sent him to Bau Hospital, about 40km from here, about 11am yesterday.

Batu Kawah assemblyman Christina Chiew, one of the earliest party comrade to receive the news, said Mordi was at home in Kampung Suba Bandar when he felt faint.

“He also had difficulty in breathing and could not walk. Some of our comrades told us that Mordi already felt some chest pain the night before but did not think it was anything serious,” she said yesterday.

Chiew said Mordi rested in the hospital for a few hours while waiting for his blood test result and he seemed to be alright.

“As a precautionary measure, my husband picked Mordi up from Bau and sent him to the Sarawak General Hospital Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan for further check-up around 3pm,” she said.

“We’re still waiting for the results. We hope that it’s just fatigue and he will recover soon,” she added.

Mordi, who is an aquatic science graduate from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, is a special assistant to Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen.
