IT ALL started some 23 years ago, when a young James Khoo saw the doors of opportunities open for his career in the oil and gas petroleum industry. The young man who had an accountancy background was actually passionate about engine parts. He worked for a few companies and soon found a job in British Petroleum (BP) Malaysia in the mid-1990s.
“Due to the job rotation process, I had the chance to work in several roles from strategy and planning, distribution and logistics and finance, as all these were part of the global network of logistics for the company at that time. I was then put in charge of the engineering department which is a little ironic because I was supposed to have studied civil engineering but did accountancy,” he says with a chuckle.
