Master at work: Robert Loh, master cutter and founder of Lords’ inspecting the measurement for the buttons on a shirt. The sewing of the buttons is a complicated process which took him a few years to learn it while training in London.

DATUK Lee Chong Wei’s fleet of luxury cars and Datin Wong Mew Choo’s grand red gown may have hogged the limelight in what has been touted as the Wedding of the Year, but if not for the buttons on his suit, the badminton star might not have looked as cool.

Says Lee Lee Loh, 60, the marketing director of Lords’ Tailor, who sponsored Chong Wei’s suits, the buttons were made of rainbow Swarovski crystal and imported from Austria. She had picked the 32 ligne (ligne is term used in the sizing of buttons) orbs on impulse during a trip to Europe some 10 years ago and had kept them away for a special occasion.
