Although Easter Sunday has passed, the spirit of the celebration is here to stay as a team of talents will showcase their best in a play this weekend.

The play called “A Glimpse of Eternity” aims to give a whole new meaning to the subjects of life and death.

It is the brainchild of Charis Christian Centre to commemorate Easter.

The church presented a Christmas musical in 2009 to great success.

A “Glimpse of Eternity” features original scripts, songs, compositions and dance choreo-graphy by the church members.

Church member Sook Leng was inspired to write the play based on biblical teachings about eternity and the day-to-day realities of life.

The production took five months to prepare as the talents put their very best into acting, dancing and singing.

A team of children will also display their talents in the play. The team has taken a step further to produce and perfect several areas – props, wardrobe, makeup and sound and lighting.

“A Glimpse of Eternity” will take viewers on a journey through the perspective of a young man who met with an accident and was pronounced dead. He had an outer-body experience and was brought to heaven and hell by an angel.

In both worlds, he met with different people and each of them relates their story of how they ended up there. You will need to catch the play to know how the journey changed him and where he will end up.

Through the play, the church hopes to spread the message of love, hope and accountability in today’s world where people are less caring and act without boundaries. It also hopes to prompt viewers to think in-depth about life and also life after death — the possibilities of where our souls will be heading.

Since 2001, Charis Christian Centre has been involved in community work in Cheras, serving the public through its dialysis centre, mobile clinic, orphanages and other charity projects.

“A Glimpse of Eternity” will be performed in English today and Chinese tomorrow, both at 7.30pm at Dewan Wawasan, Menara PGRM, Jalan Pudu Ulu, Cheras. Admission is free. For details, call 03-9130 3687/8 (Pauline).
