Disabled-friendly town

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun welcomed the move by Kota Kinabalu mayor Datuk Iliyas Ibrahim to introduce the tactile warning system for the benefit of visually impaired pedestrians to enhance accessibility as required under the Persons With Disabilities Act 2008.

Tactile paving (also called detectable warning surfaces) is a system of textured ground surface indicators that were found on pedestrian walkways, bus and train station platforms as well as parking lots in many developed countries.
