RECORDS show that almost a century ago, about 200 crocodiles were hunted every month at Sabah’s east coast, with the British colonial government paying a bounty until 1932.
Aggressive hunting continued up to 40 years ago, and when it became clear that crocodiles were on the verge of getting wiped out, the Sabah government gave the reptile legal protection in 1982.
