RESIDENTS living in Taman Indah, Sungai Jelok, in Kajang are fed up with the noise and air pollution caused by factories operating within the neighbourhood.

Resident John Steven, 51, has been putting up with the situation for the past 20 years.

He said the factory operated from 8am to 5pm on weekdays.

“It seems like the production is growing and they are adding new structures, which look like illegal extensions.

“The factory owners also do not seem concerned for the environment,” he added.

His neighbours had written a complaint letter to their assemblyman about 10 years ago.

“Three of my neighbours have moved out, driven away by the noise and dust, including one who used to put mesh netting on his windows,” he said.

“We are not against the factory operators but they should not be a nuisance to the residents.

“I hope that the factory owners can install noise absorbers and dust filters,” he said.
