CHEMPAKA Buddhist Lodge (CBL) and Nanyang Siang Pau will be organising the 2009 Mid-Autumn Food & Fun Fair Carnival tomorow to raise funds for the Chempaka Welfare Home (CWH).
The biennial event will be held from 9am-10.30pm at CBL’s premises at No. 60, Jalan SS23/ 25, Taman SEA, Petaling Jaya.
Organising committee chairman SK Tan said all proceeds from the carnival would go towards the home, which provided a place for children of single parents or broken families, irrespective of gender, race, creed or religion.
The funds will be used for the CWH’s operating expenses, as well as the children’s education and daily welfare needs.
“We are also grateful to our sponsors, as well as the committee members and devotees who helped in planning and contributing to the event,” said CBL president Liew Chang Huat during a press conference to announce the festival and its sponsors.
The charity carnival will feature about 50 stalls selling mooncakes, vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, Thai cuisine, nasi lemak, desserts like kuih, jelly and snacks, as well as produce like fruits, vegetables and organic goods.
There will also be stalls offering games, balloon sculptures, voter registration and information on the Lifelong Learning programme.
The organisers still welcome all businesses and organisations to sponsor goods and services for the carnival, as well as volunteers to run the day-long event.
The event is open to the public.
