Pilot traffic project

A TRAFFIC decongestion pilot project in Pulau Tikus, which uses new measures including wheel clamps to deter illegal parking on road sides and five-foot ways, will be implemented at the end of next month in Penang.

Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the Penang Transport Council (PTC), which is embarking on the project, would start it on a soft approach with education and awareness and then move to higher gear with enforcement where cars would be clamped and summonses issued.
