KUCHING: A digital picture database on Sarawak has been set up.
Called ImageSarawak, the project was initiated by the Sarawak State Library to preserve the state’s pictorial records in digital format.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam hoped the project would become a hub for the state’s pictorial memory to be referred to from Malaysia and abroad.
He said the pictures would be available online at www.pustaka-sarawak.com.
The project hopes to have community participation by getting Sarawakians to share their collections.
Dr Chan said the state’s corporate memory had 1,658 files, and the library had processed 2,562 files for archival purposes this year.
He said that efforts had been stepped up to improve record management in government departments.
