A TOTAL of 77 pupils, aged between five and 12, were honoured with the Troop Award at the recent Math Monkey Malaysia graduation ceremony in Penang.
The event held during the Math Monkey’s open day carnival at the main knowledge centre attracted some 870 guests.
The ceremony, held in conjunction with Math Monkey Malaysia’s first anniversary, was opened by Pulau Tikus assemblyman Koay Teng Hai.
The Class of 2008 students were divided into four troops and two members from each of the troop received the most outstanding award at the function.
Graduating students had completed one level of the nine-month Math Monkey programme.
Children and guests were treated to a host of fun activities and games at the event.
Parents also were given a demonstration of Vedic Math.
Math Monkey business development ma-nager Cheryl Oon said in her speech at the ceremony that teachers at the Math Monkey knowledge centres cultivated successful students through a series of well-planned and carefully designed lessons.
“Our vision is to ensure all Math Monkey kids cultivate a love for maths and are able to appreciate maths as a fun and lively subject.
“We hope they will gain more confidence in the subject,” she said.
The Math Monkey programme is suitable for children aged between four and 12.
