KUANTAN: An arch will be erected at the entrance of the road leading to Sungei Lembing to give the former mining town due recognition as a tourist destination.
The Government has approved the arch under a budget to be borne by the Tourism Ministry.
This news was relayed to the project’s adviser Datuk Steven Lim, who then informed residents and Chinese guilds supportive of the initiative.
Lim said the Chinese Associations of Sungai Lembing had submitted an application to the ministry for the former mining town to be given due recognition.
“The arch will be 12m long, 2m wide and 4.5m high and be a landmark to attract visitors and generate economic activities for locals.
“The town already attracts visitors during weekends to view the sun rise and visit hot springs, waterfalls, the crystal house, museum and tunnels,” he said.
