SOME 20,000 people are ex-pected to visit the Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2008 at the Penang International Sports Arena in Penang.
The three-day fair, which began yesterday, features 147 booths with 27 participating agents.
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) northern region area manager Wan Mohd Ebrahem Wan Hasnan said the airline was offering one million domestic and five million inter-national seats at heavily discounted prices.
“This annual event demonstrates the national carrier's commit- ment towards offering irresistible value-for-money deals to cus-tomers, encouraging them to plan their travel during lean periods,” he told newsmen after state Tou-rism Development and Environ-ment Committee chairman Teng Chang Yeow had opened the fair.
He said MAS’ subsidiaries, Firefly and MASwings, were joining the fair for the first time.
Wan Mohd Ebrahem said Firefly was offering 150,000 free seats (excluding taxes and surcharges) to all its destinations from Feb 25 to Oct 25.
Besides attractive airfares, MAS is also offering promotions for its Golden Holiday packages and flights to new destinations like Macau and Yogyakarta.
The airlines expects to achieve a national sales volume of between RM140mil and RM160mil from the fair which is being held simulta-neously at seven other locations in the country.
The fair is open from 10am to 10pm daily. Admission fee is RM2 per person.
