Cisar to take over Arsenal Football Academy

MALACCA: If all goes well, Cubic Integrated Sports and Recreation (Cisar) will take over the Arsenal Football Academy soon, said Cubic Integrated Group (CIG) chief executive officer Datuk Goh Seng Chong. 

Goh said the company would bring in trainers from Arsenal several times a year to train and polish up local talents once the takeover was completed.  

Former Malacca Football Association (Mafa) coach E. Elavaresan will head the academy in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. 

“Elavarasen will head the school and we will also try to bring in the country’s former star football players into the academy later on,” said Goh. 

Goh said discussions with the academy’s management were in the final stages, but declined to give more details, adding that everything would be announced in July. 

Arsenal Football Academy was set up in 2005 and those who have made it a success include national Olympic squad coach B. Sathianathan. 

Also involved is former Kedah coach Robert Alberts, who had taken the team to become champion in the Malaysia Cup in 1993. 

Goh added that an Arsenal Training Centre would be set up in Malacca to polish local talents, especially those who had shown talents at a young age.  

Cisar was formerly the main sponsor of Mafa but the sponsorship stopped in March this year.
