PENANG has applied for RM400,000 from the Federal Government to build a permanent canopy to cover Upper Penang Road, which serves as a pedestrian mall when the Little Penang Street Market is held every last Sunday of the month.
State Tourism Development and Environment Committee chairman Teng Chang Yeow said he hoped the allocation would be granted by the first quarter of this year.
