KUCHING: Six states in the penin-sula, each with less than 10,000 hardcore poor households, will be free of poverty under a Rural and Regional Development Ministry plan, within the next two years.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe said the ministry planned to take Selangor, Malacca, Penang, Johor, Perlis and Perak out of the hardcore poverty line by next year or by 2008 at the latest.
