THE Kuantan Municipal Council has announced that the road from Telok Chempedak to Lorong Seri Kuantan 21 at the Jalan Telok Sisek/Lorong Seri Kuantan 21 (opposite Sparkman’s Shop and BHP petrol station) junction will be closed to traffic from Sept 5. Treasure hunt Befrienders Malacca is organising the 2006 Merdeka Treasure Hunt in conjunction with the World Suicide Prevention Day on Sept 10. The competition is aimed at increasing public awareness on issues regarding suicide and to publicise the organisation’s services. Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) and Peace Malaysia are co-sponsoring an exhibition titled, “Gandhi, King, Ikeda: A Legacy of Building Peace,” which will be held at the SGM Pahang’s cultural centre in Semambu in Kuantan from 10am until 10pm daily from Sunday to Sept 10. The exhibition is aimed at driving home a message about individual leadership and the difference that a person can make in promoting peace through non-violent actions. Admission is free.
