The new assessment rates for the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) are in the process of being gazetted, its president Zainal Abidin Arshad said, adding that the new rates had been approved by the state government.
He said the legal department was currently going through details on the increase in assessment and the percentage of the increase would only be made known after the rates had been gazetted.
“We expect the assessment rates to be gazetted by November at the latest,” he said.
Once gazetted, there would be an announcement in at least two national language newspapers.
Zainal Abidin said a notice informing residents of the increase in assessment would be served on residents within 42 days of the announcement in the newspapers.
“Within the 42 days, there will be a period of 14 days for residents to raise objections to the assessment increase,” he said.
The new assessment rates will take effect from 2007.
