THOSE acquainted with her know well what actress and TV hostess Maznah Zolkifli is capable of apart from her acting and presenting skills.
Her good looks and feminine charm belie her passion for extreme sports.
She has taken part in paragliding, go-kart racing, white-water rafting, and skydiving.
Maznah will be among the local celebrities who will participate in a tandem jump to be held during the Malaysia Skydive Perak 2006 event in Ipoh from July 14 to 16.
“It will be my fourth jump. I hope everyone will jump gracefully and land safely,” Maznah said, who jokingly replied that she was “Forever 26!” when asked about her age.
“I also hope that that the event will get more interest from the public, and inspire more women to take part in skydiving as not many do,” she said.
Another celebrity to take part in the jump is Miss Malaysia/World 2004 Gloria Ting, who is also an extreme sports enthusiast.
“I’ve surfed a lot in places like Australia, Maui and Vancouver, but it will be the first time I am going skydiving. It's one of the things I like to do before I’m 30,” said Ting.
Astro programme host Felina Cheah, who will also be participating in the event, said she hoped that the event would encourage more people take up skydiving.
Other celebrities taking part in the event are supermodel Amber Chia, Miss Malaysia/Asia-Pacific 2005 Aenie Wong, male model and actor Fredrick Lee, and actresses Ida Nerina and Estelle Looi.
The event is not just for celebrities. The public can participate in tandem jumps with professional tandem masters, and licensed jumps are also available for the more experienced skydivers throughout the event.
The Malaysia Skydive Perak 2006, organised by SkyVenture Productions will be held at the Perak Aero Club beside Ipoh’s Sultan Azlan Shah Airport from 9am to 7pm.
It will double up as a charity fundraiser for charities selected by the Malaysian Government and the main sponsor.
SkyVenture Productions Chairperson and former Miss Malaysia/World 1980 Jasmina Jacinta Lee said they aimed to make Skydive Perak an annual event that would attract tourists to the country.
