A NEW set menu consisting of six dishes has been introduced at Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant but the biggest attraction is the Mini Buddha Jump Over the Wall dish.
When dining at most Chinese restaurant, diners are sure to be recommended this dish, said to have a humorous side to it.
This complex soup was so-named because it was believed to be so enticing that even a monk could not restrain himself and would sneak out of the monastery to jump over the wall for a taste of it.
The soup comes in a small stewing pot, cooked with shark fin, dry scallops, sea cucumber, mushrooms, abalone and ginseng.
The soup is steamed for at least eight hours before the pot is wrap with paper to preserve the soup’s taste and aroma.
The paper is only unwrapped when the pot is placed on the diner’s table ready to be enjoyed.
Besides the soup, the set also has a small portion of fresh Mexican Abalone cooked Ah Yat-styled, served with Japanese mushroom and sea cucumber.
Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant Kuala Lumpur senior manager Sabrina Chong said the fresh abalones were softer and easier to chew compared to the dried ones normally served at wedding dinners.
“These Mexican abalones are one of the most expensive ones serve by the restaurant,” said Chong.
She said customers preferred the fresh abalones to the dry ones due to the taste.
Other dishes in the set are Saute Hong Kong Kale with Abalone sauce, Fried Rice with Shrimps and Dried Scallops served in Lotus Leaf and Deep-fried Spare Ribs with Minced Garlic.
The outlet’s popular homemade dessert, the fresh Almond Juice served hot completes the meal. The juice is thick, like yoghurt.
“Unlike other restaurants, we buy and juice the almonds ourselves,” said Chong.
For this coming Father’s Day, the restaurant will be introducing two Family Set Meals priced at RM 1,388++ and RM888++ for 10 persons and RM868++ and RM538++ for six persons.
Both the 10-Course Set Meals come with Roasted Suckling Pig, Abalones, Scallops and Sharks Fin soup.
The sets are available at the restaurant’s Kuala Lumpur outlet on June 17 and 18 for lunch and dinner.
Meanwhile, dim sum is available daily during lunch. There is a 50% discount on all dim sum on weekdays and 30% off on weekends and Public Holidays.
