BUILT at a cost of RM422 mil, Camp Iskandar located in Teluk Iskandar, Mersing, is about the best-equipped and most modern commando military camp in the region and one that has impressed many a foreign military visitor.
“The Home of the Brave” as it is popularly called in the Army, is named after the Sultan of Johor, who is also Colonel-in-Chief of the Kumpulan Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK) the English equivalent being the commando group, and is where the headquarters of the Army’s 21st Brigade under which the GGK and units under its command come, is located.
