Klang on track for zero squatters

SCREAMS rang-out as an excavator was about to demolish a wooden squatter shack off Jalan Raja Lumu in Pandamaran, as a man and his wife had slipped in minutes earlier to salvage some tools to repair small boats.

Fisherman Baktiar Basuh and his wife Zamrud Mohd Nor had gone into the shack despite being told to keep away 30-minutes earlier by Klang Municipal Council (MPK) enforcement officers who were demolishing 17 squatter houses.
