MELAKA: The unity of the nation’s multi-ethnic population supports the government’s efforts in hosting world-class events, including the 2025 World Tourism Day (WTC2025), the 2025 Tourism Conference (WTC2025), and the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026), said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
He said that this is evident through arts and cultural performances involving participants from all walks of life, ranging from children to adults.
"We have participation from school students as well as dancers from cultural associations (performing a variety of acts).
"If we, the people, are united, we can organise programmes not just locally, but also internationally," he said when speaking to reporters at WTC2025 here on Sunday (Sept 28).
The one-day conference, themed ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation: Inclusive, Resilient, Regenerative,’ featured a plenary keynote delivered by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Meanwhile, Ab Rauf stated that the state government will host Visit Melaka Year 2.0 (VMY2.0) next year, in conjunction with VMY 2026.
He said the VMY2.0 launch will coincide with the 2026 New Year’s Eve celebrations, featuring more exciting activities than previous editions.
"A variety of activities are being planned to be more engaging and vibrant to attract more tourists in 2026, and it will certainly be grander and more spectacular than last year," he added. - Bernama
