Body of croc attack victim found in Sarawak river


KUCHING: The body of a man feared to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing in Sungai Maong at Jalan Matang on Friday (June 27) night has been found.

Padawan OCPD Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the body of Jacob Tuan, 32, was discovered by a search and rescue (SAR) team about 300m from the scene at around 12.30pm Saturday (June 28).

"The victim's body had multiple injuries believed to have been caused by a crocodile attack.

"He was confirmed dead, and the body has been sent to Sarawak General Hospital for further action. The case has been classified as sudden death (SDR)," he said in a statement Saturday.

Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz expressed appreciation to all agencies involved in the SAR operation.

Earlier, the media reported that the victim was fishing with his father-in-law when he was dragged underwater by a crocodile at about 10pm. - Bernama
