The new Tourism Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Dr Ong Hong Peng.

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Dr Ong Hong Peng has been appointed as the new Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia) chairman effective Aug 4.

Ong, who served as Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry secretary-general for eight years from 2008, replaces Datuk Seri Ramlan Ibrahim, Tourism Malaysia said in a statement Friday (Aug 12).

Ong will liase with the management and officers of Tourism Malaysia, the ministry, the tourism trade industry and the media to reinvigorate the tourism industry and place Malaysia as a safe and preferred holiday destination. – Bernama
